Not for the faint of heart or for the easily offended. I’ll keep it g to pg everywhere else on this site but here. This is where I’ll vomit my opinions or trash talkin, callin it out on front street stuff. If you don’t like controversial or vulgar content, exit this page now and find an easy to digest section under another category, and accept my apologies for having not found another strong way to flex my weaknesses. *curtsies*

Christmas tree skirt… out of plastic bags? Mmhmm

Christmas tree skirt… out of plastic bags? Mmhmm

tree skirt tree skirt close up

This is going to be a short tutorial on how to make a Christmas tree skirt out of plastic bags. The plastic bags you get from shopping. So don’t throw them out.

Items needed:

Plastic bags, think ahead and plan so you’re getting the colors you want and saving them.

Wax paper

a design in mind

You want to set your iron at the 3rd heat setting. Be careful not to let it sit in one place to long.

1. Cut the logo from the bags and set aside to use later if you need part of the logo.

2. Cut the design components out.

3. Lay a folded sheet or something you can use to iron on.

4. Line the folded sheet with a layer of wax paper large enough to hold the plastic.

5. Layer the background of the plastic, in my case it was white, I had about 5 layers of the background plastic.

6. Lay another layer of wax paper on top of plastic layers now. (Note: make sure the wax part of face up and face down on the plastic respectively, this insures it peels away properly from the finished plastic sheet)

7. Run the iron over the entire thing briefly, you want the layers to be together enough to proceed with the next steps. You don’t want to iron as though you’re finishing yet.

8. Carefully peel one side of the wax paper off, this will be the side you apply your design components too.

9. Flip the piece over and on the side that still has the wax paper, draw a circle the size you need it, in my case I used a cardboard disc from a paper mill as my guide, the disc is HUGE. Anyway, mark and cut the circle the size you need.

10. Now that it’s cut into the circle, keep that wax on the bottom, flip the piece over again and start placing the design pieces. Once you’re done placing the design, put the wax paper you carefully took off back over the plastic, carefully, the whoosh of the wax paper going down may move your plastic pieces.

11. Iron over the entire piece again, this time you will make sure it’s all stuck in place and solid.  Turn the piece over and iron the other side also.

12. Allow to cool then peel the wax paper off and VOILA! Christmas Tree Skirt. Cut your slit and your stalk hole and it’s the coolest!

Coffin up the Skate tricks…

Once I have it set in my head, a vision of something of extreme cool possibility, I don’t quit until I get what I see in my head. My son before he was a bike rider was a skater, boards are expensive and they’re run of the mill… in my opinion.  My husband and I made a pattern and set out cutting this out of a board blank (you can order them online) then I went to creative town and sketched out a sugar skully and then wood burned it, stained and voila, my sons custom skate board with “Luv Yo Mutha” wheels. The damned trucks and wheels were more than the board, times 2.  I love the result and so did he. ❤

Strap it up and roll that beat!

Even though I am show casing my handy work at the guitar strap design, I am sharing how and why it all came about, succinctly.  I know it’s a crappy picture. It was a long time ago and I can’t really just snap another right now. I’ll try to coax a moment with it and re-shoot the image(s).

I met a man through my best friend about 7 years ago now. My first experience with him, was spent enamored by his talent. Halloween party, we’re all drunk and having a good time. Beck scoops up a guitar and strums a tune that he free styles custom lyrics to the situation at hand. He didn’t suck. It was a good time. People like Beck have a drawing quality. Men and women alike are drawn to him, now not in every case as he has his turmoils and struggles, we can’t please everyone, but Beck is a special person.

My relationship and love for Beck honestly started through my best friend. Her love and respect and loyal concern for him catches on, consequently, I have full reason to believe this is the same means in which he learned he loves us too. Beck had a birthday and it was his 30th, special damned birthday. My family was invited to his bonfire fun fest birthday bash which for me struck panic and anxiety, I don’t have a gift, I try to never go empty handed, my husband and I were raised it’s rude to show to an invited event empty handed. So I set out connecting to my spirit, it’s the most creative side of me.

Beck doesn’t have it all, but he kind of does. He can get what ever he wants, he’s a worker. He’s not afraid of the burn of muscles tearing and growing, he’s not afraid of the challenge of a fight, of hard work, he really does have it all. So what the hell could I gift him that he couldn’t do on his own? Him, his being, seen through those that love him, stitched out and quilted together into a guitar strap. Each patch represents something about him that stands out. Parts of the fabric from his past, pieces cut from friends clothing that they wore while… blah blah blah, whatever story, I stitched it all out and erected Becks hieroglyphic strap.  It’s been a long ass time since then, and I still  love Beck, my husband is equally in love with him. It’s hard to find people with a spirit that doesn’t rub yours wrong. In terms of his strap, I don’t think I could top the gift to him, he values it immensely. If his ever gives up the ghost, he knows where to have another one designed. ❤

Dragonflies in Flight

Have you ever had so much junk inside of you that there is just no way to express it? I’ve got some baggage, I’m not going to pretend I don’t. It’s a manageable crazy; usually. There was a season in my life that I just wasn’t getting it right. Marriage was rocky, my oldest son getting into some heavy heavy stuff, my youngest son hitting puberty and stretching his bully muscle.  I forced myself to step out of my box and branch out to do something I am passionate about, Recycling. I took a Master Recyclers course and found out there is not much friendship there, a lot of team work when it’s necessary, but I didn’t really experience friendships struck. I found this a challenge to go week after week. Money was tight, extremely. I pawned my rifle so I could honor my snack day for everybody in class one week. Seems dumb but it happened… I was having repressed shit come up from the loss of my brother, mom and dad. CRAP, ya know? I HAD to do something that challenged me, gave me silent time, in the outside, creating, doing what I love, turning turmoil into something I can live with, art.

We had a smallerish pool a few years back and it sort of was a dumper pool, nice for a minute for a craigslist special. But it was up long enough to leave a nice dead spot in the yard, lol *smh* So we put a fire pit thingie out there and pondered on what to do and decided to pour a concrete pad with a raised platform that would hold a fire bowl.  So we set out prepping and digging and forming and mixing and pouring and trowled concrete to a nice finish. Once the big ass 8 foot circle of stone was in place you’d think I was happy as a clam. Nope, I was pretty pissed at myself for making this giant bland spot. UHG. So I started a mosaic project in July and set out to have it done on or before Oct 1st 2012. I met my goal with a day to rest! So here is the project as it went along. Enjoy the ride and appreciate the healing that came from this project.

I failed to explain before, the base of the fire feature riser when it’s complete and done ( I still have some artists touches) will be an accurate compass. I was lost. I had no idea where to go or how to find my way, so I started with the largest compass I could find and then I worked in musicated silence and cut glass, glued, placed, created, in my head, my soul being imparted into something I knew was going to make me happy and all who seen it. After a while my husband filtered out and cut glass bits for me, saved my wrists from the hurt and my daughter got over her fear of ruining my project that she even imparted her spirit and glued colored glass bits too. It’s our fire feature, stay tuned for the actual fire feature part, I can’t discuss it, it’s that damned good. ❤

Illusion, the Power of Light

Dragonfly is the power of light.
The dragonfly inhabits two realms: air and water
and the influence of both these elements will be felt by Dragonfly people.
They will be emotional and passionate
during their early years (the influence of water)
and more balanced with greater mental clarity
and control in as they mature (the influence of air).

Dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change,
the messages of wisdom and enlightenment; and the communication from the elemental world.
Dragonfly medicine beckons you to seek out the parts of your habits which need changing.
Call on Dragonfly to guide you through the mists of illusion to the pathway of transformation.
The number 2 is important to Dragonfly,
so think in terms of two year periods when you begin a change.
Dragonfly brings the light and color of transformation into your life.

Lemony scented Moisturizer… homemade!

Love love love the lemon lotion I made!
1\4 cup water
1/8 tsp. Borax
1/4 cup grapeseed oil
2 tbs grated beeswax
10 -15 drops lemon essential oils or. Other scent essential oil.

Finished lotion

Finished lotion

Boil water add borax and mix well. Heat grape-seed oil and grated beeswax until melted in a double boiler, I made a make shift one with a pan of water and a jar, it kept a mess from happening.  Put the melted wax oil combo in a small mixing bowl and mix with a mixer, slowly add borax, water and essential oil mixture slowly. Continue to mix until it’s creamy. Store in an airtight container. This smells summery which is what I wanted. It feels good and absorbs seemingly well.

Being a mom to butting heads teenage boys breaks down a tender soul. They forget I live here apparently. I get tired of hearing bickering randomly peppered throughout my day. It SUCKS! They don’t comprehend speaking to each other kindly… they’ve forgotten how to even speak to me kindly a lot of times. I’m fed up. I’m weary and pissed that I’ve made my life about my family that now I have no real external social outlet.  Anyone ever feel like the fighting around you is driving you into a dismal place?

First rule, be 10% smarter than the program you’re using!

Geez Louise! I thought I’d start a blog and be able to figure this out relatively easy. Well, kudos to you bloggers that have! I’m more confused today than the very first moment I started this. Lol. Stay tuned as I will figure this blogging action out and start posting useful tidbits of everything.

My original post was 10/04/2013, and today is 01/02/14, I’ve figured a few things out. I must be 10% smarter… at least than I thought I was. ❤
